Byarlea has had a lot of good sales both interstate and overseas. Sheep have been sold into Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory.
The demand for quality Wiltshire Horn Sheep is ongoing and encourages us to continue improving and enlarging the stud. Several enquiries recently for semen from overseas could prove to be another way to increase Wiltshire Horn sheep numbers throughout the world.
The commercial lamb industry is an important part of the Byarlea farm. Wether lambs and cull ram lambs are sold each year either into the market or on hooks. The lambs are not hand fed at all. They have developed into top lambs in the paddock despite the low rainfall and poor pastures. This pays testament to the fact that the Wiltshire Horn Sheep are very hardy and can thrive in such conditions. Byarlea has been pleased every year with the prices obtained for wether lambs being sold on hooks direct to the abattoirs. This commercial enterprise is very profitable on its own.
